The history of Great Lakes Gelatin

GLG began in 1922 as Grayslake Gelatin. From the beginning, the goal was to supply the highest quality gelatin to both the commercial and consumer markets. In 1988, Grayslake Gelatin became Great Lakes Wellness Company as demand for their products continued to grow. Originally used as a functional ingredient in products such as gelatin desserts and vitamin capsules, their pure collagen protein gelatin soon became an important supplement to health conscious people around the globe.

Quality and ultra-pure ingredients

Great Lakes Gelatin Company’s collagen and gelatin products are the finest available.  Made from one simple ingredient, these pure protein dietary supplements provide a protein-dense, low-fat, low-carb option for anyone looking to improve their overall well-being and fitness.  This protein is fully digestible and contains 19 different amino acids, including 8 of the 9 essential amino acids .

Collagen is found naturally in bones, skin and cartilage. Collagen Hydrolysate is made from the hide and contains over 90% protein and a distinctive amino acid group that make it rapidly absorbed and easily assimilated by the body. Collagen contains glycine, lysine and proline, which can be used by the body to build connective tissue structures to support cell functions.

How are the products made?

Great Lakes Gelatin’s collagen and gelatin products are sourced from cattle in Argentina and Brazil. They are pasture-raised and grass-fed based on the standards of the American Grassfed Association and animal welfare guidelines. Being forage based eliminates the potential use of growth hormones, antibiotics, and steroids, which follows the Food and Agricultural Legislation in Argentina and Brazil.

Great Lakes Wellness is committed to monitoring emerging welfare practices and research in order to stay informed about the latest advances in animal welfare, as well as food safety and quality.

GLG test every lot utilizing an independent, certified third-party lab.
