What is Dr Hisham's Alkaline Mouth Rinse?

Dr Hisham’s Alkaline Mouth Rinse is a prebiotic formulation that suppresses bad bacteria and helps create a healthy, balanced oral microbiome. This is an actively cleansing rinse that helps to break down plaque biofilm and banish bad breath by deactivating bad bacteria. The rinse creates a healthy alkaline oral balance, helps prevent tooth decay and cavities, and soothes sensitive teeth and sore gums.

Use with Dr Hisham’s Vital Teeth Serum to keep the oral microbiome balanced and healthy.

What are the Mouth Rinse Eco-Refill Packs?

In an effort to reduce waste as much as possible, Dr Hisham’s Alkaline Mouth Rinse: Eco-Refill Pack comes in a 100% recyclable bag. This means the bottle for the Alkaline Mouth Rinse can be reused multiple times. Alternatively, consumers may opt to use their own glass bottle or another container which means that you do not necessarily need to purchase the bottle in order to use the eco-refill pack, making this even more environmentally friendly.
Oral mouth rinses tend to be made mostly of water, which adds unnecessary weight and volume. This product replicates the Alkaline Mouth Rinse within a powder form, just without the water. The powder can be mixed with warm water then poured into the original Dr Hisham’s Alkaline Mouth Rinse bottle, before chilling and using when required.

Why did we select Dr Hisham's Alkaline Mouth Rinse?

Dr Hisham’s innovative oral care system promotes a healthy oral microbiome by nourishing the community of beneficial microbes found in the mouth. This is in contrast to the strong ingredients found in many commercial mouth rinse products which may be damaging to the oral mucosa.

The latest research on the oral microbiome has shown that oral infections are caused by a ‘consortia of organisms’, instead of a single pathogen1. This makes nourishing beneficial microbes even more important.

The ability to nourish the beneficial microbial species that make up the oral microbiome is a significant step towards better oral health and complete wellbeing. Although we treat modern dentistry and medicine as separate entities, oral health and overall wellbeing are strongly linked2.

The oral cavity is the gateway to the human body and has been described by researchers as a “mirror that reflects the health of the individual”3.  There is a growing body of evidence which links the microbiome in the mouth to a number of health issues including cardiovascular disease, strokes and diabetes4.

As well as nourishing the microbes in your mouth, Dr Hisham’s oral care system also promotes a healthy lining of the mouth which is known as ‘oral mucosa’.  Your oral mucosa is the membrane lining inside your mouth, which contains an outer layer and underlying connective tissue, and plays host to your own unique collection of microbes.

How do you use Dr Hisham's Alkaline Mouth Rinse?

Give it a shake before use, then use before brushing or on its own to freshen breath. Rinse and gargle with a squirt straight from the bottle, for 1-2 minutes, to stimulate natural saliva flow. No need to rinse afterwards as the prebiotic formula creates a healthy microbial balance.
With the Alkaline Mouth Rinse Eco Refill Packs, simply add to 400ml of very warm filtered water (chlorine free and non-fluoridated is best). Mix in a strong blender for 1 minute, then pour into the reusable bottle. This can be used in the same way as the Alkaline Mouth Rinse once it has cooled.
While travelling, add 4 teaspoons of the dry powder to 200ml of very warm water in a glass and stir vigorously. Use after the mouth rinse has completely cooled and settled. Stir before every use.
